Alan Belcher

The heavenly dove offers you this olive oil of the highest premium.
A seasonal wish for peace and calm…if you want it. War is over.

–Alan Belcher

Alan Belcher is a Toronto-based visual artist whose conceptual work is decidedly multi-layered and object orientated. Belcher is known for a directness and a sharp simplicity when approaching difficult subject matter. A sense of humor and a reverence for a Pop sensibility, and a hands-on approach with a concentrated regard for materials remain hallmarks of his serial productions. A self-taught artist, he was co-founder and co-director of Gallery Nature Morte in New York’s East Village in the 1980s.

Works by Alan Belcher are held in various public collections which include National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto),
Le Consortium (Dijon), Musée des Beaux-Arts (Montréal), Chase Manhattan Bank,
Credit Suisse Collection — as well as numerous prominent private collections.

Alan Belcher is represented by Downs & Ross (New York), Parc Offsite (Montréal), greengrassi (London), and by MKG127 (Toronto).

In the special edition by the artist for Agricola Due Leoni, the image is emblazoned with a sign of peace and hope: the ancient, near mystical, symbol of a flying dove holding the most delicate of olive branches in its beak.  500ml of organic olive olive, culled by hand and same-day milled in Sabina, bottled in a stainless steel can, label and contents approved by the Suolo e Salute organic certification board, and subject to the highest standards of art, farming, and land stewardship.
The edition is available at the following link: Agricola Due Leoni.
