Marina Apollonio

Marina Apollonio (b. 1940) is an Italian artist whose work explores geometry and visual motion. This edition was commissioned by mumok, Vienna, in a collaboration with Due Leoni, and presented during the holiday season of 2020. It was featured in the museum’s carefully curated shop, which offers exclusive editions and unique single items by both young upcoming and internationally renowned artists who have an established link to mumok.

Director Karola Kraus has made her curatorial mark via legendary exhibitions at Kunstverein Braunschweig, at the Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden, and now for many years at mumok, Austria. Her attention to art as style and content at the same time has led her to create some of the best graphic interpretations of contemporary art, through a skilled and highly controlled art direction. Her politics of inclusion reflects a commitment to equity in issues of gender and sexuality, long a theme in her professional work.
